AcroMetrix Launches the First Inactivated, Full-Process 2009 H1N1 Panel and Controls

Benicia, CA, 03 Feb 2010

Development and release of inactivated 2009 H1N1 (swine flu) control materials with whole virus is a significant step in ensuring safe, reliable influenza testing in laboratories

AcroMetrix announced today the release of the OptiQuant® 2009 H1N1 Quantification Panel and the OptiQual® 2009 H1N1 Positive Control. These products can assist laboratories in verifying the proper implementation and on-going monitoring of molecular 2009 H1N1 (swine flu) tests that are used in clinical laboratories.

"AcroMetrix now provides unique, inactivated 2009 H1N1 quality control materials that will help laboratories implement and monitor performance of tests used to detect this threatening respiratory virus," says Romain Prieur, Vice President of Marketing. "The inactivated material significantly reduces the possibility of transmission of swine flu to laboratory personnel who would otherwise have to rely on active positive patient material."

The OptiQuant 2009 H1N1 Panel is configured with 4 positive members at levels of 1000, 100, 10 and 1 TCID50/ml and a negative panel member. The OptiQual 2009 H1N1 Positive Control is manufactured at a low level and similar to the panel, contains whole, inactivated virus to monitor the entire testing procedure fromextraction through amplification and detection. A negative respiratory control is also available. The OptiQuant 2009 H1N1 Panel and the OptiQual 2009 H1N1 Positive and Negative Controls are for Research Use Only, not for use in diagnostic procedures.

AcroMetrix plans to complement the 2009 H1N1 panel and controls by adding other major influenza subtypes to its continuously expanding product menu of quality materials.
