The OptiQuant 2009 H1N1 Quantification Panel is intended for use as a standard to assess the performance of quantitative and qualitative molecular diagnostic test procedures for 2009 H1N1 determination. 2009 H1N1 is a novel strain of influenza detected first in April of 2009, and molecular testing is recommended to distinguish this strain from seasonal influenza. Convenient and ready to use, the OptiQuant 2009 H1N1 Quantification panel monitors the full testing process. The panel contains intact, encapsulated viral particles, which allows for verification of an effective extraction procedure, a benefit that other third-party control manufacturers cannot provide. Additionally, the viral material used to create the panel has been inactivated to significantly reduce the risk of disease transmission to laboratory personnel who would otherwise have to rely on positive patient samples.
The panel was designed to meet the need for highly standardized and controlled nucleic acid testing of 2009 H1N1 viral load in human specimens. It is manufactured to provide a metrological traceable value and uncertainty according to ISO Standard 17511 (In vitro diagnostic medical devices—Measurement quantities in biological samples—Metrological traceability of values assigned to calibrators and control materials).

Storage Instructions
The OptiQuant 2009 H1N1 Quantification Panel must be stored at -70°C or lower to ensure highest quality. The panel is designed for single use only and excess material is to be appropriately discarded.
