OptiQuant® EBV DNA Quantification Panel

The OptiQuant® EBV DNA Quantification Panel can be used for training and proficiency testing of laboratory personnel, for lot-to-lot comparison of reagent test kits, and to evaluate and compare intra-laboratory and inter-laboratory assessments. This product provides a consistent standard across multiple test methods, enabling clinical laboratories and diagnostic manufacturers to assess the analytical performance of nucleic acid test procedures for the quantitative and quantitative determination of Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) DNA. For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures.

Procedure

The OptiQuant® EBV DNA Quantification Panel provides a consistent standard across all test methods, enabling clinical laboratories and diagnostic manufacturers to assess the performance of molecular diagnostic test procedures for the quantitative and qualitative determination of Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV) DNA. This product can be used with both target amplification methods, including real-time PCR assays, as well as signal amplification procedures for the detection and/or quantification of EBV DNA, and is useful for training, qualification of new diagnostic kit lots, and instrument system validation.

Principles of the Procedure

The panel can be used to monitor all procedural steps in any test procedure designed for measuring EBV DNA in human serum, plasma CSF or whole blood. Since the panel members contain intact, encapsidated viral particles, the test methodology should include an extraction step that releases the viral DNA and makes it available for quantitative or qualitative EBV DNA detection assays.

Each panel member, except the Negative, contains EBV DNA at a nominal level. Assigned values are reported as copies per milliliter (copies/mL). Commercial, ASR or homebrew test procedures may report results in other units. This product provides a means for comparing quantification units across different assay formats.

Each panel member contains 0.05% ProClin®300 as preservative.

Storage Instructions

It is recommended that the OptiQuant EBV DNA Quantification Panel be stored at -20°C or lower to ensure highest quality. The thawed panel members can be stored at 2-8°C up to one week. Even though not recommended, the panel members may be refrozen after first use, thawed and used second time with minimal loss of the activity. Discard any unused material after use. Any panel members that appear cloudy or contain precipitates after thawing should be discarded.
